Concept
A short film exploring the relationship between technology and human development.
Umberto Boccioni first put forward various theories, and then tried to turn the theory into a visual image. The work "The Rise of the City" from 1910 to 1911 reflects his theory in painting. In this painting, he pursued "a great synthesis of labor, light, and movement". In the picture's foreground is a huge red galloping horse, full of vitality, hoofed forward. In front of it, twisted characters fell down like cards. The background is the emerging industrial construction. Here, the symbolic meaning is clear: the giant horse alludes to the modern industrial civilization that futurists are obsessed with. It is developing rapidly with unstoppable momentum, and the crowd implies the vitality of labor. The picture expresses the creed of the futurists with bright and high-purity frontal colors, flashing dazzling light, exaggerated solid dynamics, and spinning and jumping sheep touch, a tribute to speed, movement, power, and industry. Boccioni once said, "I hope new things, meaningful things, powerful things." This painting is just a reflection of the new things he wants, and it is right. Annotation of boiling modern life. From the futuristic fascination with modern industrial civilization to the rapidly developing artificial intelligence technology, the huge red bull symbolizing industrial civilization in Boccuni’s "The Rise of the City" seems to be a symbol of artificial intelligence technology. As the medium continues to iterate, our creative methods and observation methods are constantly updated. VR technology has further reduced the distance between display and virtuality. We are gradually entering the "inside world" within the screen through it, just like Alice's gaze Looking at the rabbit hole, we also look at the eye of intelligence all the time.
I used ZBrush, MAYA, C4D to process models and make camera animations.
In the film, the bull, which symbolizes industry and power, runs through the dense buildings of factories and cities, but in the next scene becomes a dead bone in the showcase. Perhaps with the arrival of the intelligent age, heavy steam and heavy industry seem to be already getting away from us.
In the character design that symbolizes technology and intelligence, I refer to human characteristics and abstract them. It is used to express doubts about whether technology is really “humanized".
At the same time, I try to draw some 2D cards as graphic design elements
UE4 - VR
After being exposed to VR technology for the first time, I simplified some of the digital assets in the short film out of my hobby, and used UE4 to create a VR experience project. Virtual reality technology is fascinating, allowing the experiencer to experience what I have created.
Compared with direct video, VR gives people more visual stimulation.
In the shape of the bull, I refer to the long-horned bull.
In this project I came into contact with animation binding bone technology, I tried to practice bone binding.
